# Loom vs Vidyard: which one fits how you use video?

Loom and Vidyard both let you record your screen and camera and send a link, so on the surface they look interchangeable. In practice they're built for different people. Vidyard is a sales tool that happens to record video, with CRM integrations, buyer analytics and AI-generated outreach videos, while Loom is a general communication tool used for walkthroughs, updates and feedback across a whole company. That difference shows up most clearly in the price, where Vidyard's paid plan costs roughly three times as much as Loom's per seat.

This page compares the two using the prices each company lists today, explains who should pick which, and covers a third option if what you need is simpler than either of them.

## The short answer

Choose **Vidyard** if you're on a sales or customer success team that sends videos to prospects and needs to see who watched, push that activity into Salesforce or HubSpot, and use branded pages with calls to action. For everything else, from explaining a bug and reviewing a design to replacing a status meeting or onboarding a new hire, **Seedling** does the job for $8 a month: you record, the link is ready when you stop, and you get an email when someone watches. Choose **Loom** if you specifically want AI summaries, comments or desktop apps and are happy to pay $18 to $24 per person for them.

## Prices compared

Prices are as listed on [vidyard.com/pricing](https://www.vidyard.com/pricing/) and [loom.com/pricing](https://www.loom.com/pricing) on 17 October 2026, in US dollars per person.

| | Vidyard | Loom | Seedling |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Free plan | Yes, 5 videos a month, up to 30 minutes each | Yes, 25 videos in total, up to 5 minutes each at 720p | No, 14-day trial without a card |
| Main paid plan, monthly billing | Starter, $89 a month | Business, $18 a month | $8 a month |
| Main paid plan, yearly billing | Starter, $59 a month ($708 a year) | Up to 17% off, roughly $180 a year | $79 a year |
| AI plan | Video Agent add-on, $24 a month billed yearly | Business + AI, $24 a month | No AI features |
| Larger teams | Teams and Enterprise, custom quotes | Enterprise, custom quote | Same price per person |

Vidyard currently labels Starter as "now 10% off", so the regular price may be higher. Both companies offer a 14-day trial of their paid plans.

## Where Vidyard is stronger

Vidyard's paid plans are designed around selling. Starter includes full video analytics, a branded sharing page, call-to-action templates, password-protected videos and folders, and the Teams plan adds integrations with CRM and marketing automation tools, fully customisable calls to action and team performance reporting. If your manager wants to see which reps sent videos, which prospects watched them and how far they got, that's the job Vidyard was built for.

Vidyard has also gone further than Loom into AI-generated video. Its Video Agent creates personalised videos with AI avatars and sends them automatically based on what a buyer does, connected to tools like Salesloft, Salesforce, HubSpot and Marketo. Whether that's something you want in a prospect's inbox is a judgement call, but nothing else in this comparison does it.

The free plan is also more generous on length, since you can record up to 30 minutes per video compared with Loom's 5-minute limit, although you're limited to 5 videos a month.

## Where Loom is stronger

Loom adds collaboration features on top of recording. Even the free Starter plan includes transcripts in more than 50 languages, captions, comments, emoji reactions and viewer insights, and Business adds unlimited recording length, 4K video, password protection and custom branding for $18 a month. Business + AI adds automatic titles, summaries and chapters, filler-word and silence removal, and meeting notes.

Loom also has apps for Mac, Windows, iOS and Android, integrates with Slack, Jira, Confluence, GitHub and Gmail on every plan, and is now part of Atlassian, which matters if your team already lives in Jira and Confluence. Salesforce integration is limited to Loom's Enterprise plan, so if CRM tracking is your main requirement, Vidyard's Teams plan is the more natural fit.

## The cost over a year

For a team of ten on yearly billing, Vidyard Starter comes to about $7,080, Loom Business to about $1,800 and Seedling to $790. The gap is large enough that it's worth being honest about which features you'll really use. If your sales team relies on CRM-linked video analytics every day, Vidyard's price can be justified by a single closed deal. If you mostly need a link that shows a screen and a face, you're paying for a sales platform you won't use.

| Team size | Vidyard Starter, yearly | Loom Business, yearly (approx.) | Seedling, yearly |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1 person | $708 | $180 | $79 |
| 5 people | $3,540 | $900 | $395 |
| 10 people | $7,080 | $1,800 | $790 |

Vidyard recommends its custom-priced Teams plan for groups of five or more, so larger teams should expect a quote rather than these list prices.

## A simpler option if you only record and share

Seedling covers the part of both tools that most people use every day. You record a browser tab, a window, your whole screen or just your camera from a Chrome extension, your camera sits in a bubble you can drag around, and the share link opens as soon as you stop. You can cut out mistakes afterwards, you get an email the first time each new person watches, and viewers don't need an account.

## How to decide

For most everyday video, the deciding factor is cost, and that's where Seedling pulls ahead.

| If you… | Choose | Why |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Record walkthroughs, updates or answers to customers | Seedling | The link opens the moment you stop, and anyone can watch without an account |
| Want to know when someone has watched | Seedling | You get an email the first time each new person watches |
| Need longer videos than the free plans allow | Seedling | No length limit and unlimited videos for $8 a month |
| Watch the budget as the team grows | Seedling | $790 a year for ten people, against about $1,800 for Loom and $7,080 for Vidyard |
| Want AI summaries and desktop apps | Loom Business + AI | $24 per person per month |
| Send videos to prospects and need CRM-linked analytics | Vidyard | CRM and marketing integrations on its Teams plan |
