# Screen recording for customer support teams

Some support answers are much easier to show than to write. When a customer is stuck on a setting three menus deep, a two-minute video of you clicking through it usually solves the problem on the first reply, while a written explanation often leads to another round of back and forth. Seedling makes that video quick to record and easy to send, at a price that works for a whole support team.

## Why video answers work so well in support

A short recording shows the customer exactly where to click, in their language of buttons and screens rather than yours. It also feels personal, because they can see and hear the person helping them, which takes the edge off a frustrating moment. And because the video lives at a link, you can reuse a good answer the next time the same question comes in.

## How it works with Seedling

1. **Open the customer's issue in your product** and click the Seedling icon in Chrome.
2. **Record the tab** with your camera on or off, and talk through the fix as you do it.
3. **Stop, copy the link and paste it into your reply.** The video page is ready immediately, and the customer can watch it on any device without signing up.

If you stumble or a notification pops up halfway through, you can cut that part out afterwards in a few seconds. You'll also get an email the first time the customer opens the video, so you know your answer has been seen.

## Tips for support videos that land

- **Keep it under three minutes** and solve one problem per video, so the answer is easy to follow and easy to reuse.
- **Say the goal first**, for example "I'll show you how to change your billing email", so the customer knows they're in the right place.
- **Record the tab rather than your whole screen**, which keeps other customers' data and your notifications out of view.
- **Use a test account** whenever you can, and never record payment details, passwords or other sensitive information.
- **Keep a list of your best videos** for frequent questions and paste them into saved replies.

## A Loom alternative priced for support teams

Support teams tend to have a lot of seats, which is exactly where per-person pricing hurts. Seedling costs $8 a month or $79 a year per person, compared with $18 to $24 per person per month for Loom's paid plans (as listed on [loom.com/pricing](https://www.loom.com/pricing) on 13 October 2026). For a ten-person team on yearly billing that's $790 a year instead of roughly $1,800 to $2,400. See the full comparison on the [Loom alternative](https://sendseedling.com/loom-alternative) page.
